decent filler stories, okay character work, lots of good art.
it's all solidly written, and the art is fantastic from front to back. but Lemire's writing can sometimes slip from thoughtful to solipsistic, which can kill the narrative momentum. still, i found the character writing to be fantastic, and he remains someone that i always want to hear from, because even the bad parts are part and parcel of the good.
fast paced, well-written, good characters. i thought the ending was a bit corny, but it had a good "forget it jake" bit a couple chapters earlier. overall, a lovely read.

it's fine. it's written in that pithy voice-y tone that tends to grate during long periods. it's got heart, it's got violence, some neat twists, and a new SecUnit!
