I've read many of the criticisms of this book. Some seem likely to be true, and I can see why it might be offensive. On the other hand, it's just a novel. I know that novels about the Holocaust or the formation of Israel, e.g. Exodus, are often dramatized and inaccurate, and their movie versions may be even worse. So, first, intelligent readers should not form their opinions on complex matters based on a novel, but, second, if the story is in your favor (Remember Uncle Tom's Cabin?) maybe you should leave well enough alone.
