Though I didn't like how this fourth book in the Mortal Intruments series ended, I still like whatever Cassandra Clare writes. This was not my favorite book in the series and I'm hoping that the fifth book will be good and that the ending will be better. I mean, I guess I understand why she ended it this way. It's meant to be a cliff hanger, a continuation on to the next book, but that doesn't mean I had to like it. The plot was a bit more sketchy to me than the other books were. I kept feeling while reading it dragged along and not like I was.... really INTO the story. The characters, as always, were pretty amazing. Jace and Clary had many issues throughout the book as did Simon. It seems that Simon has grown up alot since being the geeky guy in love with his bestfriend and knew he didn't have a chance in hell of really having her as his own. I'm glad that he moved on. I always felt sorry for Simon whenever his point of view was shown in the previous books (his thoughts about Clary and how he loved her). I never truly understood Jace's behavior, though. I didn't understand why he thought he could never have Clary. I hate it when he punishes himself for actions happening to him beyond his control. I know he felt guilty for what he did to Clary, but it wasn't his fault. I like Isabelle and Simon together. Maia and Jordan getting together is nice as well, even though I kind of liked Simon and Maia together. I just hope that the fifth book will be better.
