A book about a trans woman, a detransitioned trans woman and a cis woman thinking of creating a queer family? Don't mind me if I do!

Disclaimer: I'm a cis woman and apparently this book was written by a cis woman? So maybe this feels like a voyeuristic adventure into trans lives. However, and whilst acknowledging my ignorance of the trans experience, I really enjoyed reading this. It seemed to encapsulate many trans and queer struggles, not undermining their importance but still keeping the cynical wit that many queer people resort to as an act of coping and resistance. Something that got to me on a personal level: the utter shame, hyper self-awareness, and projection of self-hate that Ames experiences living pre-transition... Great tbt to my closeted era!!!!11

All in all, this seemed like a great dive into a diverse array of topics from different queer and trans perspectives: sex, identity, motherhood, relationships, etc. - and there's space for all kinds of commentary, from deeper philosophical enquiries on family to trans women deciding whether they tuck or not at the beach. What's not to like?
