@mouse@bookwyrm.social Do you mind if I ask how it was? A while back I was really invested in Arthuriana, including reading a bunch of books about 'the real arthur', but was always a bit daunted by Malory. Watching your updates has made me wonder whether I should finally give it a try...

@pdotb@wyrms.de I loved it, but it's not a book I'd go around recommending? It's over 1,000 pages long and written in barely modern English (this version has standardized and updated spelling, which is the only way I could have gotten through it). But if you enjoy Arthurian legend and feel comfortable with very old writing, I'd say at least give it a shot. I listened to part of the first edition as an the audiobook read by Bill Homewood, which was a nice way to split it up.
