@mouse Pevear and Volokhonsky seem to be the reigning czars of translating the russian classics in to English but not without controversy. It's kind of fun to dip into the raging feuds that have been going on for ages.
@quaad I do enjoy some good translation drama (a plus in nabakov's essays on russian lit was him roasting translators)
@mouse yeah, i guess i have to read that nabokov now. for some reason i'm resistant to Nabokov. I always imagine him torturing butterflies.
