It may be an esoteric sounding topic, but Steve's book clearly lays out how climate models work. And these models are incredibly important and growing in importance. The book walks the reader through the history of scientific modeling of the climate, starting with early approaches in the non-computational era. It concludes with a comprehensive assessment of the current state of the art, model comparison, and future challenges in climate modeling and action.
I like the ideas but the writing is unnecessarily opaque and referential ("as So-and-So also write"). I was hoping this book would explain the ideas clearly and succinctly but it struggled to free its writing of a disciplinary strait-jacket.
