Bernardine Evaristo: Girl, Woman, Other (2019) 5 stars

Girl, Woman, Other is the eighth novel to be written by Bernardine Evaristo. Published in …

Discovered this Book in February while exploring the great libraries in Oslo. Read the first chapter in the library. My girlfriend and I were hooked on the spot. She bought herself a copy and so I got to read it too.

Girl, Woman, Other is a fictional story but it feels very real. Every chapter is told through the eyes of a different woman of color. Over the course of the book you slowly learn, how the characters are all connected (sometimes over generations). Some of these connections are really surprising and exciting. I especially enjoyed the ending. no spoilers. Really helped my appreciate how much POC history Europe (in this case Britain has). I would love to read a similar story featuring POC life in Germany (got tips?).
