@otterlove@bookwyrm.social Oh interesting! Not to be nosy, but I'm curious to hear what didn't work for you here vs Voyage of the Damned. I just finished that book recently so was thinking about the two together since they have a similar setup.
@picklish@books.theunseen.city Oh I really enjoyed Voyage of the Damned, it was one of my favorite books this year. But this story had too many of the YA tropes that I find uninteresting. Constant bickering and pointless obstinance being top of the list, also character decisions that feel suspiciously plot driven, “who put these idiots in charge?” and maybe it’s just me but the settings seemed abrupt and not well established. None of which are bad traits but combined they made it more work than I was willing to put in to finish. Perhaps it gets better?
