I love this book. It's part comment on Victorian social life, part weird sci-fi adventure story, part popular science exploration of higher dimensions? A resident of a two-dimensional world is visited by a sphere. It's one of the few books I've chosen to read more than once. It has spawned a number of spin offs and sequels, but none live up to the original's strangeness and the perfect balance of its components.
