I really need to go back and read some of the earlier books again as I've forgotten quite a few things I'm sure are important.
Bring in back and emphasizing the framing device that Vlad is narrating this to a recording device, to the point that interruptions are included, at least Vlad's part of them, was interesting.
Why don't we hear Sethra's side though? Anti recording sorcery, she asked not to be, she was communicating with Vlad telepathically and he didn't realize?

I loved the bit where Vlad and Cawti arrived at Castle Black were greeted by Teldra and Vlad launches into an explanation of how she addressed them and it's this perfect encapsulation of Teldra's and Vlad's personalities.
It's a small thing unrelated to the plot (probably) but it's the kind of thing Brust is really great at.
I haven't read Lord of the Rings since before the movies came out. It's good to go back.
This illustrated hard cover edition is very nice. Before I had a soft cover omnibus edition.
Started with The Silmarillion this time, then The Hobbit. Fellowship is done now. I'm mixing in some other books between them as I go. Next is Tsalmoth before Two Towers.
