Review of 'Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family' on 'Goodreads'

More a reminder that regardless of the obvious differences, some deep personal problems faced by these royals are very similar to what my friends have gone through. This book is a bit outdates though, it was before Megan Markle's move into the Royals.

1. My favorite of all royals has to be Princess Anne.
- She liked horses
- She made the best of her privileges without drawing attention
- She led a normal life while being a princess.

If there is one princess that I would like to swap life with, maybe it is with her.
Although I like my own life to swap with anyone's for that matter.

2. Never knew Mountbatten was killed. I am not too sure, but I guess he was responsible for the independence of India. I wouldn't be surprised if he were killed by citizens from any of the countries colozined by UK, …

This book is about a young woman who had to disguise herself as a man so that she can practise various meditation practices. I guess it would have been even more inspiring, if she had spoken her truth and fought to be seen and heard as who she is instead of living in disguise and only revealing the truth at her death. But then as my friend says, easy to say but you never know what one is going through. To each his own!

A bit depressing the things that she had gone through, but certainly doable. Maybe I know people who are nearly as loving and quite as enlightened like that. Also, never have I read a book by Thich Nhat Hanh that I didn't like.

I tried reading Michelle Obama's "Belonging". But for whatever reason, I couldn't continue reading it. I never attempted to read Obama's promised land. But then I came across this photographic book and wow!

The incredible list of things that this man has done goes on and on.
Imagine the sheer number of meetings that he had to attend during these eight years is appalling. He had to fire people publicly. He had to meet up with families of war heroes. He had to live with the responsibility that his actions affect the world in a very direct manner.

Even for the sake of imagination, I cannot put myself in his shoes.

A lot of us are complacent. We are happy, peaceful, and comfortable with it. The lives of great men like Obama, who took a lot of risks in their lives make us wonder about the countless wonderful ways one …

The life of Agatha Christie was as mysterious and eventful as her fiction. This beautifully …

Although I have never read much of her work, I found her life surprising. She is well read, well traveled and has lived a nice life. But like everyone she did have her fair share of tragedy. Interesting read, brief and engaging.
