What is good? What is a well-rounded person? What can I even say about this book from a layman's perspective?

Putting the historical significance and foundational shaping of Western thought aside, its practicality for me came in short bursts. Some parts were interesting, and some were very much not. The dull parts were typically drawn-out logical procedures on what appears to be common sense things, but were necessary for his line of reasoning. The interesting bits were timeless takes on virtue, anger, "the good", pleasure, etc. He has a lot of interesting bits on friendship.

You can see how Aristotle's work here led to Politics, as he deems legislation the best way to improve a population at scale (forcing them to do good things). I think he even says something near the end along the lines of how discussing ethics necessarily leads into politics.
