I read in english and german, and am open for all kinds of genres. My favorite vibes: lovely (especially nature-loving or animal-kind), unhinged, queer, melancholy, weird, soft, slow. (Not all at once, but would be interesting hehe.) I mostly read mangas/comics/GNs, but occasionally also love to dive into text-only books.

Oh god, that ending. Time for the brutal cliffhangers again.

I truly hope it is not what I think it is, but I'm afraid it is exactly what I think it is...

Things are quite getting quite tense and serious. Sure, they have been serious before, but there was more hope than there is now. And it was rather slow-paced. But barely any rest this volume.

And then the 4-koma bonus chapters at the end were so lighthearted... Really? After that cliffhanger?? TwT

Also, new theory:
<spoiler> I have the feeling that the "god of light" might actually be playing against the humans. Yes, he is brainwashing them into thinking the dark children are bad and all, but maybe that was the best way he could think of, to make sure to curse them all? Look it truly is the perfect plan:
- make them think the curse is bad, …

What a train ride.

To quote a line from the book:

"It was supposed to be a five-minute train trip, but there he is, over two and a half hours later and five hundred kilometers to the north. And somehow he feels like he's got nowhere. Sucked into a journey he had no intention of takin, baffled, and exhausted, his body leaden and his mind like a gauze."

This is how I felt throughout most of the story, especially when the Prince was involved. I didn't care for most of the characters, everyone was annoying and I just wanted it to end. But as soon as the grandparents got involved, things were actually starting to become fun.
<spoiler> I absolutely loved it when they got the upper-hand of the Prince and used his own game against him. It's always so incredibly satisfying when that happens to characters like the Prince!! …

Bones: Wolf's Rain, Volume 1 (Wolf's Rain) (Paperback, 2004, VIZ Media LLC) 3 stars

Review of "Wolf's Rain, Volume 1 (Wolf's Rain)" on 'Storygraph'

I'm confused.

The pacing is so off, and apart from some particular unique looking characters (mostly because of their clothes), every other character (especially the non-wolves) looks the same. The POV also switches back and forth with no transitions whatsoever.

It's not necessarily bad, I'm just confused.

I guess the authors expected only those, who watched the anime, to read this? 'Cause it feels like a bonus story to the anime, rather than the anime retold in manga form.

Review of "I'm in Love with the Villainess (Manga) Vol. 5" on 'Storygraph'

3 stars

So, uh, Claire's supposed to be straight, but her first true love was a girl? Mhm...

Didn't like this volume. I hate the love rival trope so much, especially when the "bottom" just sits there, does nothing, and even likes being fought for.

Would give it 1 star just for that.

However, the twist at the end was so unexpected and awesome, that it gets a better rating.
Still, though, my least favorite volume so far.

On the other hand, the brothers grew on me even more. They're becoming quite the comedy quartet, and I'm all here for it.

Review of "I'm in Love with the Villainess (Manga) Vol. 6" on 'Storygraph'

4 stars

Well, that was quite a relaxing and needed break from the last volume.
Summer holidays!
The cover illustration makes it look like they were going to the countryside to go gardening, although they went to the beach.
In particular, they went to Rae's hometown and Claire met her parents.

And had a crossover with Pirates of the Caribbean, lol.

Claire is starting to realize why the commoners started the protest in the academy a while ago. And generally why they despise aristocrats.
She's also getting quite clingy to Rae. Which is funny to read, but I do miss their bullying/bickering a bit.

Rae's mother is a bit odd, but funny. Sure has some questioning habits, though...
She mentioned that Rae <spoiler> "might just disappear someday". Got me wondering. Since she didn't die before being reincarnated into this world... what if modern-Rei and fantasy-Rae simply swap places? Basically like Taki & …

Wow, so many unexpected things happened! At least for me.
1) Yuu being the only one with common sense in the beginning. I didn't like him that much at first, but since this volume, he kinda grew on me. Which, yea, is all thanks to his logical thinking.
2) Thane assisting Rae and Claire in multiple cases. It's probably the most screen-time he's ever gotten, and also talked the most.
I still think he's hiding something and knows more than he lets people know, but, just like Yuu, he grew on me.
Also, his poor hair!
3) That one love tory and plot-twist-antagonist was also very unexpected, as it wasn't hinted at all.
–> I'm not really upset about that confession as some other reviewers, tbh. As said, it wasn't hinted at all, they're also side characters, and apart from a confession, there was no visual display of them feeling …

Review of "I'm in Love with the Villainess (Manga) Vol. 3" on 'Storygraph'

Wow, a lot has happened in this volume. The exams for the knight club, night patrol, being taught by Lene how to be a servant, cooking and baking together, and the festival...

Since Rae is <spoiler> saving the money for Claire, I think it’s bc of her role as a villainess? There might come a storyline where the villainess will lose it all, and so in case that happens, Rae saves up money, so that Claire will have sth at least? Just a theory, but if that’s the case... damn. </spoiler>

Also, Rae mentioned Claire saved her. Obviously she’s talking about her life before being reincarnated, so Claire as a game character saved her indirectly. <spoiler> Maybe she was suicidal bc of her job, and then found the game right when it was going really bad in her life, fell in love with Claire and decided to continue living, just …

Inori, Aonoshimo: I'm in Love with the Villainess Vol. 1 (2021, Seven Seas) 4 stars

Review of "I'm in Love with the Villainess Vol. 1" on 'Storygraph'

Wanted to read the manga before watching the anime, but watched the first 4 episodes now and... well, I want more of them. Episode 5 comes out in 3 days and because I can't wait, I'll be reading this now! Hehe.

So, volume 1 is covered in episode 1-2 of the anime.
It’s kept very close to the manga, just some small differences here and there.

The art too is same, though I must say, I think I prefer the anime! The colors simply make it more lively, and that’s the vibe of the story. It’s still really well drawn in the manga, though.

Episode 3 was quite emotional, so am pretty excited to continue with volume 2 and see how a particular scene is presented there.

So, the scene I was excited for was a bit more melancholic in the anime (which I loved), but I could feel the emotions here too, nonetheless. Prefer the anime version though.

I did not expect that they pretty much skipped half of ep4 though. The whole fight scene.
It just went straight to the end of ep4, lol. Then again, the anime is based on the light novel, so maybe the manga simply didn’t include it.
All forgivable tho, because the water blob is way too cute!!! Relaire, you have my heart <3 (both the blob and the shipping lol)!

Nagashiro Rouge: Eve and Eve (Paperback, 2019, Seven Seas) 3 stars

Review of 'Eve and Eve' on 'Storygraph'

As it's a collection of 6 short stories, I'll be reviewing them separately.

I want to leave behind a miraculous love
As the two last humans on earth, Nika and Sayu worry about what will happen when one of them dies. Then they find a spaceship, that has just the solution to their problem...
Truly a dream come true for some same-sex couples.
I really loved the language barrier representation and how they could show their feelings to the other. Didn't expect the spaceship tbh, but it was cool. Wouldn't mind a whole series of their story.

"If you think about sad, gloomy stuff too much, then sad, gloomy stuff is gonna happen!" ~ Shiva.
Wise words from a wise soul.

Another cliffhanger, although a positive one this time.
Or is it, really? Maybe danger awaits them at their destination... Well, let's hope not.

Religious people are back in the story, unfortunately, and have proven to be the villain. No surprise there.

A lot of revelations have been made, especially from the dark children, and I have lots of theories. Here are some: (only view when you've read volume 4 or more!)
<spoiler> So, basically, the real curse here is the human body.
The souls were all once from the Mother of "darkness", but the god of light stole them from her, and is now manipulating his human followers into thinking that their Mother (whom they don't remember) is the evil one. </spoiler>
Reminds me a lot …

Welp, I guess every volume ends in a cliffhanger.

As Shiva's aunt accepts and settles into her new life, there are a few ups and downs, but there is great character development. But things don't stay all too happy for long...

None of the church or the people on the inside have been present in this volume, and I'm more than grateful for it. I really can't stand them and I wouldn't mind if the next volume didn't include them either. Although at some point they will be an important part of the plot (well, they already are, but I mean they'll get more "screen-time").

The art continues to be beautiful and I can't wait to start with volume 5. (Should be coming tomorrow!)

... And it ended on a cliffhanger again. Although at least not that much of a "gasp" cliffhanger as the other two volumes.

This volume felt a little more rushed, compared to the previous ones. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I didn't mind the rather slow & melancholic pace. This was rather tense.

The ending kind of explains a lot, yet at the same time also not.

It continues to be very interesting and, what I really love in mystery books, you can make lots of theories. Also, the art style still is very mesmerizingly beautiful.

The church keeps being brutal as well.

Omg not a cliffhanger again! TwT

It keeps being really really good. Getting a bit more creepy, so not sure if I'll sleep tonight, but I just can't put it back. And I'm still so in love with the art!!

I swear the church is the real villain here. Wouldn't surprise me; it's just like the witch trials.

Damn, that cliffhanger! 0.0

I'm absolutely in love with the art. It captures the sinister and dark and mysterious atmosphere so so well!! Also an incredible inspiration for Inktober right now.

Getting christian witch trials vibes from the kingdom – alas, a group of people with power sentencing other people to death because they <i> think </i> they <i> might </i> be cursed, but don't really have proof.
I know there will be lots of revelations later on, that most of the tales about the beasts are lies. Definitely.
Well, maybe also not, who knows, but it's very likely.

Other than that, the story is really interesting and the two main characters are lovely. Not much yet revealed about them, but they're already in my heart. I'm begging the author not to let them suffer too much.
