Torrey Peters: Detransition, Baby (Hardcover)

Story of trans feminine culture

Excellent. I loved it. There were so many moments where I could relate.

Just as Torrey Peters says herself in the acknowledgements: This book is a story of trans feminine culture in the new millenium.

@szczurtorebkowy@ohai.social @agturcz@circumstances.run I really love it very much. It’s a very beautiful love story in and by itself. And tells a lot about what we, trans women, can feel and live in our love life, all the questions we face, or could have faced as the persons in the story are quite younger than I am.

Sorry for this late answer, I don’t get any notifications from this account.

So much to unpack in this book. In every chapter there are new things bringing me back to introspection and understanding of my feelings and yearnings 😳🏳️‍⚧️

Amy was disgusted at the way she craved approval through behavior that made her feel like a cosmic joke: an asshole with no self-esteem who wanted to be one of the girls so badly there weren't even the words for it, so she got close in the crudest ways instead.

I wasn’t expecting to find such descriptions of myself in there… 😳 … and in ways I was incapable of understanding back then.
