4 stars

Fevre Dream is not a hugely original book, at times it is entirely predictable, but it is a solid, hugely enjoyable novel that moves at a good pace and entertains throughout. Readers expecting a vampiric Song of Ice & Fire will be disappointed, this is not on that scale nor as intricately plotted, but those looking to lose themselves in a well realised world of folklore will not be. Especially if you like steamboats.
