I cannot find a single thing I like about it. The characters are either awful or pointless, there's no world-building to help you understand the society. It's just terribly written. The children are so awkwardly written as toddlers who are less intelligent than average toddlers and talk like they're older teens and adults. The fights are entirely convoluted, and they make zero sense for the narrative.

When Farmer does decide to explain the world she created, it's far too late. I either stopped caring or forgot entirely. It shouldn't take hundreds of pages to develop the BASIC world knowledge for the reader.

I can't make myself like any of the characters, and it also frustrates me that she fails to properly write bilingual people and lazily resorts to writing accents instead of letting us imagine it ourselves.
