Shaun David Hutchinson: fml (2013, Simon Pulse)

At a party near the end of senior year, seventeen-year-old Simon Cross imagines his life …

So many awful stereotypes and tropes in one place.

Genuinely couldn't make myself enjoy this book. I liked the two-path writing, showing how events can be different; I just couldn't like the rest of it. There were far too many teenage movie tropes (which even the book itself was aware of because it made comments on that, and that felt wrong), the use of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope is something I almost always hate, the main character is actually more like an obsessive stalker than a person in love (and that should always be discouraged), and it was all just uncomfortable in so many ways.
