It's missing something.

This book is something that I'd describe as alright. I'm not sure that I quite enjoyed it, and it left me with a lot of similar feelings that I get from other books by this author. I liked aspects of it, but I found a lot of it lacking and uninteresting. I feel like there's something missing in the animal collection for a long time; it's talked about so excessively much for such a small "lesson," which is easily overlooked.

And I can't quite connect with either character in some ways; I like Craig to some extent, but I find it difficult to understand how he's (not) coping with Cody for the majority of the novel (and find it weird that no one is really doing much to help -- they just sort of shrug it off and do nothing, even when it comes to just showing some form of support). Lio's humour sometimes fits well, but I also find that he's a bit flimsy in some ways as a protagonist. Both of them are missing something.
