Inheriting her childhood home after her distant father's suicide, Laurie notices disturbing manifestations in the …

Review of 'Little girls' on 'Goodreads'

Fantastic! I'll definitely be checking out more of Malfi's work. Thanks to the SNHU Book Club for turning me onto this one.

This was a tight, tense horror that was more of a creeping, eerie terror that settled into your bones, than a jump-scare horror or blood&guts horror. Very well written with nothing the felt extraneous. The ending was BEAUTIFUL. Highly recommended

V. E. Schwab: A Darker Shade of Magic

Review of 'A Darker Shade of Magic' on 'Goodreads'

My first @veschwab book, but I'd been eyeing A Darker Shade of Magic in the bookstores for a while now. I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger and got it (based mostly on the back cover description and the fact that V is lovely on twitter). I'm keeping this short and sweet (and spoiler free) for now, but I'm really looking forward to reading more of her work.

Stephen King: Elevation (2018)

Although Scott Carey doesn't look any different, he's been steadily losing weight. There are a …

Review of 'Elevation' on 'Goodreads'

Not really "horror" but I pretty much put all of King's books there. It was an okay concept, but one that definitely led itself to be short. I knew this was a short book to begin with, but I had no idea until I picked it up that it would be so small too. Not bad, but one you should only pick up if you're like me, and you need to own ALL of King's works in hardcover if possible. I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up in a King anthology at some point in the future...

Tana French: The Trespasser (2016, Viking)

Being on the Murder Squad is nothing like Detective Antoinette Conway dreamed it would be. …

Review of 'The Trespasser' on 'Goodreads'

Maybe not my favorite @TanaFrench book, but might be the most twisting, turning, pull-the-rug-out-from-under-you case I've read by her. Still prefer In the Woods, but this one kept me hooked without figuring it out until the hammer came down at the end. Recommended!

Ruth Ware: The Death of Mrs. Westaway (2018, Scout Press)

"From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of In a Dark, Dark Wood, The …

Review of 'The Death of Mrs. Westaway' on 'Goodreads'

Good. Not as gripping as In a Dark, Dark Wood, but worth the read if you like Ruth Ware. Less based around the unreliable narrator, but still brings a good bit of in-the-dark narrator trying to find answers and uses it effectively as the protagonist tries to discover her family history.

"Narrated by 'Eddie' who receives a chalk drawing of a stick figure that hurtles him …

Spoiler-Free Review:

LOVED IT! Great first novel from a new author. Loved the premise and the constant switching between 1986 and 2016. HIGHLY recommended if you like weird mysteries and good, quick, page-turners.
