Business has been slow. Okay, business has been dead. And not even of the undead …

I am thinking that this series is not for me. It felt like it should be a quick, not heavy weight read and for me it was everything but. I had a hard time finishing it. At times the plot simply bored me and I found it meandered too much to keep me reading. There are no exciting "reveals", twists or chapter-cliffhangers that make one excited to see what else is too come. No surprises from start to finish, everything plays out quite as expected.

And so far neither the world-building nor the meta-plot are impressive.

Also I am having a hard time getting a clear concept of what Harry Dresden is like as a character.

3* because despite me being bored for large parts of the story it is not badly written, plotted or characterized but neither is it very well written. My having trouble empathizing with Harry likely is the reason I could not get into the story.

I can still see potential for the series as a whole. I've accidentally peeked into #12 and it read way more interesting. For me though I'll probably read a few more Iron Druid books before getting back here.
