I had to gave up half way. The first half had some good advice. However, the code examples were getting harder and harder to follow - both in terms of complexity and in terms of appeal to general audiences. I would be surprised that most engineers have enough context or interest to follow through code samples about games.

I would like to see a more general theme like refactoring an enterprise CRUD applications.

The final third of the book, at about after breaking up with Viola, feels rushed. Years have gone by in just a few sentences. It’s a sharp turn from previous meticulous descriptions. And it definitely is a weaker part of the book. Cosimo stops being a strangely real character to a formulated one. I suppose Atwood doesn’t know a lot about China or even the USSR. It baffles me because this book was published in 2019, when the authoritarian control and media propaganda of China reached a new height. No way the overthrowing of Gilead works in real life. The dystopian Gilead is too naive to be enjoyable to read… The writing and the general storyline was boring as well.
