I much preferred this series when we didn't know what the actual apocalypse was that brought everything to hell, and Dashner just had to go with the stupidest explanation possible when he did reveal it

The first book was good. The second one wasn’t good, but I was still curious. The third book was rotten and hard to finish and I’m disappointed I wasted my time.

I really liked the trilogy but I feel the third book wasn't the same as the two previous. Of course the whole structure is different but I missed the suspense. It was a bit like waiting for the end all the time. The conclusion was a bit simple and sad as we had to say goodbye to so many people. However I think the end fits the whole story (despite some points were left open) and all in all I can recommend the whole series.
