This story covers a lot of emotional ground, but I was laughing the whole way through. That's a rare balance.[return][return]Alcoholism, abandonment, criminals, exclusion, the Civil War, non-parenting, etc. Animal stories distract us a little from the blades of these knives, and we finish the story mostly unscathed. It's so well written and charming, I'd recommend it to anyone.
