Inconsistent.
Mr. Recht elegantly melds the infamous "fast versus slow" schools of zombie thought into one... and it is glorious. Unfortunately, the good stuff is buried 6 feet under the layers of cliché-ridden characters, uninspired encounters, and glaring plot holes.
Plague of the Dead definitely has enough meat on its bones to get me excited for the second novel in the trilogy. We'll see how it holds up!
