Witty, practical intro to investing. Author is pro-indexing, but allowing that you may have a primal need to pick stocks, Malkiel gives guidelines there as well. Supplemental section on options is excellent. I learned about two brothers who used futures to corner the worldwide silver market in the 1970s.
