foxrain reviewed One flew over the cuckoo's nest, Ken Kesey by SparkNotes (Sparknotes)

I can see why this book caused quite a stir when it was published. Kesey describes mental health issues and their care with keen insight. And perhaps even more important, he describes people's attitudes towards mental health problems with that same acuity.
This is a good book, too: the characters are very well written and the "crazy" is skillfully woven into the narration of actual events so that the reader can't always tell the difference. However, the brilliant thing is that most of the crazy stuff makes sense too, and, at times, more so than the sane parts.
