"A collection of humorous essays on what it's like to be unabashedly awkward in a world that regards introverts as hapless misfits, and Black as cool ... [from] Issa Rae, the creator of the Shorty Award-winning ... series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl"--

This was interesting as far as memoirs go. I had no idea who this girl is when I picked this up, and I still don't really, but I'd be interested in watching her webseries as we sound a lot alike. She's a little younger than me, and clearly grew up richer than I did, but I feel like we would have fun hanging out together, which is really all you can ask for in a person.

Some chapters are true gems. As a whole, a solid read. I had previously watched the series and ultimately feel the same way - I'm glad it's out there, and it said some funny and valuable stuff, but it's not my absolutely favorite thing. I think I feel similarly about Issa Rae's work that I do towards Mindy Kaling's, although I think I'd rather get a drink with Rae than Kaling, if I had the chance.
