hits a lot of the tropes of a novel today, but a fun, novel horror-y look at translation and adulthood, but the characters kinda sucked in a (badly written, not interesting way). flew by though
This is ridiculously good- scary, witty, thought-provoking.
Don't want to give anything away but definitely read if you're a fan of books like Mexican Gothic or Babel.
3.5 stars rounded up. I was thinking 4 stars for most of it, but it has a stronger start than finish. Kind of anticlimactic end given the reveals.
If you read thrillers/horror in the speculative vein you’ll have an idea of where this book is going immediately. But I will say even though I knew the general idea of the reveal, I did not guess the specifics.
