So I've got over a year of this title under my belt now, and unless someone tells me something wonderful is waiting for me in future issues, I think I'm done. It's not terrible, but it is old-fashioned in a 1980s kind of way. The special story at the end of this volume, "The Horrorist," is beautfully drawn and painted, which makes it even more frustrating that the art obscures much of the story and makes it confusing as hell. For me, that is a cardinal sin of comics.

This title grew out of two incredible classics, The Swamp Thing and Sandman. I'd always hoped it would match those two when I finally picked it up, but based on these first two volumes, that's not the case. But it's not bad! Ten years ago I would've pressed on.
