The actual rules I agreed with, the presentation and reasoning however was really not at all enjoyable.

First there's no summary, and the rules aren't repeated; as self help it's difficult to pin a rule down, because unlike every other self help book the rules aren't repeated.

Second the book isn't scientific, validation for all of his rules relies heavily on bible stories, and analogies - makes them difficult to swallow has having a background in fact (he's a clinical psychologist) shouldn't he show some data to back up his claims)?

After writing this review i scanned through some other reviews. Turns out the author is kind of a alt-right loon, I'm not sure how this got on my to-read, oops! I really wish I'd put this down earlier.

4 out of 5 but only because I like his lectures and past courage.
this book reminds a lot on the 'Maps of Meaning' and his previous 12 rules but at times it makes this unhealthy accent on religion.
I hate religion but even if you try staying objective you realize Peterson only 'likes' certain aspects of Christianity, its lies, an accent on guilt and inborn sins he tends to forget because those never fit the narrative.
Why would he?.. If religion is good and the 'glue' of the society.

While I liked this book overall, these mumbling about religion smells rotten for obvious reasons and it builds a picture of an old, broken and somewhat of a crazy person.

If you force yourself to go through this part, the rest of this essay will be enjoyable.
