La Planète des singes, known in English as Planet of the Apes in the US and Monkey Planet in the UK, is a 1963 science fiction novel by French author Pierre Boulle. It was adapted into the 1968 film Planet of the Apes, launching the Planet of the Apes media franchise. The novel tells the tale of three human explorers from Earth who visit a planet orbiting the star Betelgeuse, in which great apes are the dominant intelligent and civilized species, whereas humans are reduced to a savage animal-like state.

Great book I revisited to get me back into reading

I love Planet of the Apes. its one of those film series I do admire, since it kept going, with budgets slashed further every time.

The book is not like the film. Very far from it in many areas. First read back in high school & loved it. I saw it as a book to read again to get me back into reading

I do feel some of the wording is very 'urgh' at times & some of the delivery can be that as well. because it has this eloquent way of saying & uses words I didnt know of & has a habit of repeating them a bit too much.

It was good to read the book on which the movie franchise is based. Like most adaptations, the movie is a bit different from the book. Overall, I like the story and its take on the idea. I don't know if I am completely satisfied on how the story ends, but I would like to see where it could go from there.

Review of 'La Planete Des Singes - French edition of Planet Of The Apes' on 'Goodreads'
