A Mind for Numbers

Barbara Oakley has changed my mindset about learning. The things we do, normally, and call as learning - are in fact not. We cram our faces with things we don't remember it the next day, and call the time as well spent.
Barbara has gone into the depth of all the problems we face while learning, even though we don't know we face them, and has provided solutions for it.

It's a life-changing book for the learners out there.

Where was the book back when I was in high school and university?
And what can I now study just so I can try out the techniques and advice in the book?

This is one of my favourites reads this year and is full of really great explanations and examples which underpin the practical advice given in the book. It is a book that challenges you to go further.

"We develop a passion for what we are good at. The mistake is thinking that if we aren't good at something, we do not have an can never develop a passion for it."

This book is an excellent mixture of knowledge and inspiration which should be taught as young as possible, worldwide. The interweaving of theory, examples and testimonies of scientists who were often late bloomers, clearly points towards a future where we'll laugh at our current misconceptions of intelligence and our ability to learn anything.

This book was super helpful to me. I would have never borrowed it from the library because the title was very off-putting, but it had so many great reviews.

The book is basically about the best way to study and learn, and common mistakes students make while trying to learn. I personally was making quite a few of the mistakes in the book.

I was spending so much time studying and didn't feel like I was learning the material, and couldn't figure out why. I have already started implementing the strategies in my current class and it is helping me retain the material.

En conjunto, se detallan la forma y el motivo de muchas conductas perjudiciales y como sobrellevarlas, además de datos relacionados de personajes históricos o declaraciones de casos reales.

Muchas de las técnicas que el libro recomiendan están implementadas en si mismo, por lo que de momento puede parecer repetitivo, tomando y extendiendo temas ya dados.
