This short story focuses on the bittersweet ruminations of an old woman who began a social movement in her youth, and the culmination of her life as a public figure on the day before the Revolution begins.

at the end of the road, Laia reflects about her life, her work, all she gave and got, what she was and now remains.

I’m glad I read this right after The Dispossessed. My memory is so bad, I’d have forgotten who Odo was if I waited too long to read it.

This was a thoughtful little story of a revolutionary in old age. The doubts, insecurities, humanity. The real person behind the myth in The Dispossessed!
