A dragon. A boy. A journey.
Firedrake, a brave young dragon, and a lonely boy called Ben, set out on a magical journey to find the legendary place where silver dragons can live in peace for ever.
Flying across moonlit lands and seas, they discover extraordinary new friends and a courage they never knew they had. Just as well, because a heartless enemy with an ancient grudge is never far behind them . . .

Old favorite of young childhood I remember reading cover to cover over and over again, as well as individual chapters. Gives me the nostalgia fuzzies.
Wow! It’s so amazing and beautifully written. Cornelia Funke really did a great job on this one.
It also reminded me a lot of httyd — but in a good way. Like a continuation. You know, Httyd place in the Wiking era, about 3000 years ago. This story place in 1997. At the end of Httyd, the dragons had to hide, but came out from time to time, to visit their friends. It’s the same in this book, right? They’re hiding from most humans but do trust some of them. So it’s possible they’re from the same universe, just have a long time skip.
