Was für ein tolles Buch! Erstveröffentlicht im Jahr 1922 ist dieses Buch inzwischen über 100 Jahre alt und trotzdem unglaublich spannend.

Dir Geschichte spielt in den 1920ern in London und Umgebung. Zwei junge Leute, Tuppence und Tommy, treffen sich zufällig in der U-Bahn. Sie kennen sich von früher und gehen gemeinsam etwas trinken. Mehr aus Spaß heraus beschließen sie, künftig „junge Abenteurer“ zu werden und wollen relativ undefiniert irgendwelche Aufträge von Dritten annehmen.

Der erste Auftrag erreicht sie früher als erwartet, schon am gleichen Abend, so schnell kann‘s gehen. Tuppence und Tommy sollen jemanden ausfindig machen. Schon am nächsten Tag machen sie ihren ersten Schritt in einem gefährlichen Spiel, dessen Regeln sie gar nicht kennen. Bald schon trennen sich ihre Wege und wir schauen mal dem einen, mal dem anderen Pfad zu, bis sie sich wieder treffen.

Despite the fact that I've been raining Agatha Christie books since junior high, I had never read a Tommy And Tuppence book before. The whole feel is totally different than any of her other books that I have read! The fact that it's not a carbon copy of her previous styles is good, and the twist near the end is refreshing and intriguing. I don't know why I didn't give it four stars, but there you go…
