It was a long haul through this book, but it spurred me to make some serious updates to my security protocols. I had thought I was fairly secure, but things have changed significantly in the past few years, and as the author clearly states, it’s only going to get worse unless significant steps are taken.

Wat een boek. Dikke pil, weken over gedaan, maar alleszins de moeite waard. Als technoptimist is het altijd goed tegengeluiden/waarschuwingen tot je te nemen. Na een paar hoofdstukken durf je je computer of smartphone eigenlijk niet meer aan te zetten. Gelukkig eindigt het boek wel met aanbevelingen om je veiligheid op het internet te vergroten. Maar wat wel duidelijk wordt is dat de wet van behoud van ellende geldig is voor al onze technologische vooruitgang. Of eigenlijk: De ellende dreigt alleen maar groter te worden. Als we niet ingrijpen. Een dringende oproep ook aan overheden om een "Manhattan project" op te zetten om cybercriminaliteit zoveel mogelijk terug te dringen. Absolute aanrader.
