Super Powereds

I'm a sucker for superhero books but this one disappointed me a little. It has descent characters that are well thought out have good personalities and powers. I just didn't really like any of them enough to have a favorite.

Most of this book is just the kids going to superhero college and what happens day to day. Nothing really exciting happens until the very end and by then it was kinda predictable. I don't enjoy following the characters day to day lives.

I'm not sure I will read the next book or not. I'm leaning toward not but if I do I hope it has more action since I've already met all the characters and know them. If it's just following them through year two, I'm not interested. Some more needs to happen during the story and not just at the end.

Ahora tenemos más drama pijamero, más revelaciones inesperadas, y además, un arco de torneo!

Por fin, al tercer libro empiezan a aparecer las facciones que han estado en la sombra, dando más profundidad a la historia. Ahora todo es más serio y hay más cosas en juego y se nota por la menor cantidad de borrachos por página.

Lo demás es lo esperado, crecimiento de poderes, aplicaciones inesperadas y secretos que se desvelan pero que dejan más secretos por detrás.

Mantiene el nivel de la parte anterior en lo que a narración se refiere, pero al menos va creciendo el poder de los personajes.

Hay más profundidad en las personalidades y algo más de interacción con los secundarios, pero la trama de los antagonistas aparece solo muy de vez en cuando. Al menos cuando aparece el grupo enemigo, suele tener efecto en los protagonistas.

En resumen, continuista pero entretenida.

Starts off a bit ungainly. Totally worth getting past that first bit. Then, some seriously interesting world building, character development, and inventiveness. And, series is written well enough that I seem to be coming back to it every year or two. Love the writing style, the plotting, the attention to character, and dear gods the entertainment.
