If misogyny and two dimensional characters are your jam, then you'll gobble this book up!
Seriously, I think a lot of people who read it will enjoy it because it has a good premise and is a page-turner.
My issue(s) with it: the characters aren't very complex. The bad guys are all bad, with no real redeeming qualities (unlike real life, where even serial killers usually have SOMETHING that keeps us from spotting them a mile away). And in an effort to paint the bad guys as bad, the author layers in a heavy dose of misogyny, including a reference to one woman "painting the town red with menstrual blood." Charming.
It feels like the author had a fun idea, was able to construct a story and write reasonably well, but fell into a trap when it came to character development.
