Retired police detective Bill Hodges, the unlikely hero of Mr. Mercedes and Finders Keepers, now runs an investigation agency with his partner, Holly Gibney -- the woman who delivered the blow to Hartsfield's head that put him on the brain injury ward. When Bill and Holly are called to a suicide scene with ties to the Mercedes Massacre, they find themselves pulled into a case that will put their lives at risk, as well as those of Bill's heroic young friend Jerome Robinson and his teenage sister, Barbara. Brady Hartsfield is back, and planning revenge not just on Hodges and his friends, but on an entire city.
Like the rest of the trilogy, it's poorly written. If he cut out even half of the utterly pointless asides and musings, the book would be 200 pages shorter, which for this story, it should be. It's also a rather dick move to decide to introduce paranormal elements in the third book of a series. At least I've got these three mediocre books out of the way so I can read The Outsider.
Isn't it lovely when you've been anticipating the final book in a series for quite some time so your expectations just keep getting higher and higher, and then when you finally get your hands on a copy of that last book it does not disappoint?

When the premise got a little bit silly the characters held their own and I kept reading on to see how the strange twists and turns would affect them. Plus of course I really wanted to see the bad guy get what was coming to him. I hope that you guys will …
