Reading the memoir of someone who's been to space would stand on its own merits, but Hadfield's humility and humor make this a thoroughly engaging read. I learned a lot about what it's like to be an astronaut in the modern age, from how they train on earth to the minutiae of daily life in zero gravity... but even more than that, he reconnected me to the sense of childlike wonder familiar to everyone who ever fantasized about growing up to be an astronaut.

Not quite what I expected. I thought it would be a whole series of comments and profundities. Instead its a fascinating glimpse into just how complex and demanding the job is, and as you read this the profundities are developed in a very subtle way. Very pleased to have read this, and also to have come to some similar conclusions in my own life. Gives a real sense of perspective on almost everything.
