As someone who has only read one other Moore book, I was admittedly pretty entertained by just how far this book went into vulgar-town. That probably says more about me than the book...
While it might wrap up a bit too quickly and neatly, it's still engaging for its bizarre qualities alone. There's a number of genuinely memorable characters and the concept is the most creative I've seen for a book involving whales. It might disappoint big Moore readers, and even I can tell that this probably isn't his best work, but it works as a light read. Just don't read it as your first Moore book.
