Another sneaky, unreliable narrator

Second in The Siege series, this has a different protagonist, and the city has been under siege for seven years. I didn’t enjoy this as quite much as I did the first book, and I find our hero, Notker, to be awfully similar to Florian, another of Parker’s protagonists from the Saevus Corax series.

Even though it was not as much fun as the first book, it’s still an enjoyable read, and I really do like all the technical warfare bits. Considering how this book ends, I really do need to find out what happens in the third and final instalment.

Review of 'How to Rule an Empire and Get Away with It' on 'Goodreads'

A fantasy medieval setting of Moon Over Parador, Dave, Prince and the Pauper with a twist

Frothy, breezy style of narration. Great pacing and happy to let you fill in the pieces as you go rather than slog thru exposition.
Interesting world building with a very light touch
