As much as I loved Gateway I just couldn't get into Man Plus. It is as well written but felt far too plodding for my tastes. Maybe because the subject has been done so much, it failed to overwhelm me here. Too much time is spent with trivial drama and not enough engaging with the cyborg. The twist at the end is great and worth reading the book for, however.
