A friendly accessible read about the science and history of plants and animals that coexist in cities with humans. I heard about this book during an interview with the author on an episode of 99 Percent Invisible and it didn't disappoint. My favorite chapter might be about the remarkable capabilities of crows and ravens, both of which are everywhere in the Bay Area.
