Remarkable world building and intrigue, but to me ultimately unsatisfying. I just couldn't stretch my suspension of disbelief to accept Jamisia's condition as a thing and the book never made me care about any of the other characters. If you're not yet (or never will be) a grumpy old man who's no longer charmed by imaginative FTL concepts and movie style hacking, you might have a completely different experience.
