reviewed Mort by Terry Pratchett

It struck Mort with sudden, terrible poignancy that Death must be the loneliest creature in the universe. In the great party of Creation, he was always in the kitchen.

In Mort, Terry Pratchett takes one of his most compelling Discworld characters—Death himself—and hands him a problem: an eager but inept teenage apprentice. What follows is a delightfully sharp and inventive tale that blends high fantasy with absurd comedy, as Mort learns that meddling with fate is far trickier than it seems.

Pratchett’s humor is as sharp as ever, but beneath the playful satire lies a surprisingly thoughtful meditation on destiny, free will, and what it means to be human—even for those who technically aren’t. Witty, insightful, and effortlessly entertaining, Mort is Discworld at its finest and one of my all time favorites.

Review of 'Mort' on 'Goodreads'

It's not surprising at all That Terry Pratchett engages you with a fun, feel good, and easy to read book. The surprising bit is that the whole book is about Death. And it's still light-hearted and funny.
Death is an endearing character. (It truly is!) and the whole magic of living and dying is preserved with beautiful images and defiance of reality itself.
It is oddly profound while remaining fun and making fun of itself. And the best teaching of the book?
Everytime Death says "There is no justice. There is only me"
