Overall I liked this trilogy, but something about the pacing, the characters and the (lack of) worldbuilding rubbed me the wrong way from the start. It's all from the viewpoint of Chloe, who starts out knowing nothing about the hidden sides of the world she is a part of, and the revelations are painfully far apart. Of course, having read Armstrong's other books I would have had a lot of knowledge about the magical side to her world if I'd known that this story takes place in the same universe, but for some reason I thought this was more stand alone and came at it more from the angle of someone without that knowledge, and for that me the lack of information was a constant annoyance.
