A Court of Silver Flames

The best of this series so far. Well written (in comparison to the other works in the series) and well paced and thoughtful arcs without cliche repetitive story beats. Very enjoyable!

December 2023 (first-read): Okay. I put it off because I wasn't a fan of Nesta as a character (at least not enough to read a whole book from her pov). But, I was definitely surprised! At first I wasn't sure where her characterization was going, but I loved it. Also loved the new characters that were introduced. Gwyn my love. ALSO: SIBLING BONDS! I loveeeeee that shit.

Great... A book about my least favorite sister.

But no, it is great! Its a book of healing, reflection, and growth; Maas's strongest themes in my opinion. SJM really nails it here exploring the pain that underpins Nesta's personality and showing that healing isn't linear. By the end of the book she might have become my favorite character in the series. Well, her and the Valkyries! (The next book better be about them!) We also see Rhys and Feyre in a less flattering light so I kind of hope their books are over.

Oh, and did I mention the sex? Like, girl, there's about as much in this book as the other books combined. Not that I'm complaining exactly...

I really enjoyed this whole series and heartily recommend it.

I enjoyed this book thoroughly!
I kept getting told this book is spicy (and it is) but it is about so much more than that. It's about trauma and healing, about the love of family - both born and found. About the enduring strength of female friendships.
I will always quibble about this series often less than stellar world building but it fades away in the face of how thoroughly enjoyable the stories are.
I loved it! I had a really good time reading it.

These characters are still endearing and entertaining^^
(Sarah J. Maas really went all out with the smut in this one lol)
