Very fun. My first Captain Marvel but not my last.
Very fun. My first Captain Marvel but not my last.
This never really grabbed me.
This volume was my first introduction to Captain Marvel, and it started off great! The titular character was charming with a sense of humour and there was enough action for it to be a great read. But towards issue 3 or 4 the references to the Avengers started to get old. (yes, we KNOW you are with the Avengers we don't need to be reminded all the time. Sigh.)
Also, it started to feel more like a crossover with the Guardians of the Galaxy than a singular Captain Marvel story. And on that note, it should be mentioned that if your only experience with the GotG has been the recent (2014) movie then there is a somewhat large but obvious spoiler for the GotG series within this Captain Marvel volume.
Still, this was not a bad read. I liked Captain Marvel, and her personality was enough to carry me through …

Still, this was not a bad read. I liked Captain Marvel, and her personality was enough to carry me through the volume. I wish there had been a bit more information about her, for someone like me that is new to the series, but even so I am looking forward to Vol 2 and seeing where Captain Marvel's story goes.
